Gideon and the Angel

Victory through faltering faith

Bible in 90 days – Day 18 – Judges 3-15

Judges 6:15-16 ESV
“And [Gideon] said to [the angel] ‘Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” And the Lord said to him, “But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.”

Gideon is the least man in the least clan in the least tribe in Isreal. He is the one God chooses to use to save the nation. Just like God, right? Not only is he the least of the least of the least, but then he goes on to ask for three signs to confirm the command, AFTER SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO ANGEL.

And yet this is the one God uses.

The faltering faith of an unworthy man, combined with obedience in response to God’s promise leads to the overthrow of the enemy.
