The birth of Jesus Christ fulfills the ancient promise of "Immanuel, God with us," demonstrating God's intimate presence with His people in their greatest time of need. Just as God drew near to the Israelites when they were enslaved in Egypt and cried out for deliverance, He draws near to us through the incarnation of His Son. Through Jesus, God doesn't remain distant but enters into our human experience to save us from our sins and be present with us always.
