Jesus taught his disciples that true greatness comes through serving others, not through seeking power or status. While the disciples argued about who would be greatest in God's kingdom, Jesus demonstrated that following him means embracing humility and putting others first, even when it leads to suffering. This teaching directly challenged their expectations of earthly success and revealed God's upside-down perspective on what makes someone truly important.
