Christians are called to live as sojourners and exiles who obey God's commands not for personal benefit or salvation, but specifically to glorify God. While faithfulness often leads to suffering rather than earthly pleasure, believers exist as God's chosen people to proclaim His excellencies to the world. This divine calling requires abstaining from fleshly passions and maintaining godly conduct as temporary residents in a foreign land.
