I just got back from spending the last several days in Shreveport, LA. I took a team of 13 volunteers from our church down to assist in whatever way we could. We ended up working at the Red Cross shelter at Hirsch Coliseum. You can read about the experience at my personal blog.
My contribution was mostly in the area of Web development (ironically.)
I worked with a small but brilliant IT crew to develop their registration system (when I got there, they were keeping track of everyone in an excel spreadsheet). And to create the shelter’s home page.
It was a great experience and I hope I can go back down soon.
Thanks to Rob from louisianacajun.com and Red River Design, and everyone else down there for your efforts. You will be rewarded someday, I am convinced.
