The late first-century church was experiencing doubt and persecution as Jesus had not fulfilled political expectations and the eyewitness generation was dying off. John wrote his Gospel to address these concerns by carefully selecting specific accounts of Jesus' life to demonstrate that He is indeed the Messiah and Son of God. Through these chosen narratives, John aimed to strengthen believers' faith and assure them of eternal life through Jesus' name.
